Mercy offers bumps and bruises clinic

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

For 12 years, Mercy has offered free evaluation of student athlete injuries at the Bumps and Bruise Clinic.

Mercy's free Bumps and Bruises Clinic will resume from 8-8:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at Mercy Health for Life.

Greg King, Mercy orthopedic nurse practitioner, and Sara Hunt, certified athletic trainer, will conduct the clinic.

High school and middle school athletes injured during an accredited athletic event may have the injury assessed by a clinician at the clinic free of charge.

Appointments are not necessary, however, it is recommended to arrive early to allow adequate time for treatment. No evaluations will occur after 8:45 a.m. If necessary, diagnostic services are available on site and will be billed to the athlete's insurance.

The free clinic will be held each Saturday morning during the fall sports season. The clinic is held in Mercy Health for Life located at 405 Woodland Hills Blvd. in Fort Scott.
