A Minnesota man was reported to be injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning north of Fort Scott.
A Kansas Highway Patrol report said a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle and a 1991 Dodge pickup were both westbound on U.S. Highway 54 near 165th Street, about nine miles west of the U.S. 54 and U.S. Highway 69 junction just north of Fort Scott. The pickup slowed to make a right turn onto 165th Street. The motorcycle approached the truck from the rear and struck the pickup's trailer in the rear.
The accident took place shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday. The KHP report said Derek Scott Dickson, 51, of Duluth, Minn., was injured in the collision and taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The report said occupants of the pickup, Christopher David Thurston, the driver, 32, of Fort Scott, and passenger David Thurston, 60, of Deerfield, Mo., were not hurt in the crash.
Both were listed in the report as wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The motorcycle was towed from the scene, but the truck was not, the report said.
