GALEN EDWARD McKIBBEN

Galen Edward McKibben, 75, of Greenwood, Ark. entered into rest on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at St. Edward's Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Ellery, Ill.,to the late John and Mildred McKibben. He attended Community Freewill Baptist Church in Pocola, Okla. For 30 years, he and his wife owned and operated Suzanne's Plants. He was instrumental in fundraising thousands of dollars for Arkansas Children's Hospital. He loved singing, fishing, camping and cooking. He was member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 208, past President of Aerie No. 4416, past state trustee, member of Black Diamond Lodge No. 549, member of the Shriners's and Scottish Rite 32nd Degree.

He was preceded in death by parents, and brother Darrell McKibben and son Brad Prelesnick. He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne Douglas McKibben, his children Tim McKibben and wife Cinda of Arma, Kan., JoLynne Stainbrook and Jerald of Fort Scott, Kan., Brandy Martin of Allen, Texas., Kristy Philpot and husband Jimmy of Greenwood, Ark., and Melissa Jones and husband Richard of Harrison, Ark., grandchildren Trevor and Joshua McKibben, Zach Powell and Abbie, Autumn Martin, Alex Martin, Tanner Philpot and Heath Philpot and Stephanie and Rilee Jones, great grandchildren Jacksen, Masen, Colter Powell, sisters Marilyn Smith of Clarkston, Mich. and Katherine Hall of Clinton, Ill. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. with interment at Old Jenny Lind Cemetery in Jenny Lind, Ark. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. Pallbearers will be Gary Douglas, Jimmy Philpot, Heath Philpot, Tanner Philpot, Dave Cooley, Michael Rutherford, Jerald Mitchell and Joe Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim McKibben, Ivan Foxworthy, Bucky Castillo, Zack Powell and Kenny Weaver. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
