To the Editor:

On behalf of the Southeast Kansas Adult Education consortium, I want to thank everyone who helped to make our first Tee-Up for Adult Education Golf Tournament a huge success. The support of our sponsors and those that played in the tournament helped SEKAE raise more than $2,000 that will go toward supporting students enrolled in our program at all seven locations.

SEKAE is comprised of Neosho County Community College, Chanute and Ottawa campuses; Labette Community College, Independence Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Coffeyville and Columbus campuses; and Fort Scott Community College.

We were so pleased to have support coming from all the communities that SEKAE represents. In addition to our sponsors, we want to acknowledge the first and second place teams who generously returned their prize money to the program: Tim Allen and Jonathan Allen; Gerrick Peters and Timmy Barger; Bill Cowen and Lance Triplett; Jim Genandt and Allen Genandt.

Many of our students come to the program with significant financial challenges. Your generous contribution to the June 16 tournament will allow us to financially help those needing assistance who seek to obtain their GED and have the opportunity to enroll in technical programs at any of our locations. It is our belief that taking the "first step" toward a new educational goal shouldn't be vulnerable to inability to pay. Your support of our golf tournament will help many succeed and make strides toward positive changes.

Please join us next year for the Second Annual Tee-Up for Education scheduled for June 1 at Prairie Ridge.
