The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Tuesday that Fort Scott Community College's volleyball team was awarded the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 season. The award honors collegiate and high-school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Fort Scott was one of only 13 NJCAA programs to earn this award. "I am so proud of our young ladies," FSCC head coach Lindsay Hill said. "We set academic goals in August and I am proud that they reached those goals." This award comes just weeks after being named as one 2011-12 NJCAA Volleyball All-Academic teams. (FSCC photo)
