To the Editor:

The city commission and staff would like to acknowledge and thank all those who worked so hard to ensure that fort Scott had a beautiful aquatic center and that it opened on time. Without the help of so many, from the Health and Wellness Team to the contractors to individuals, the Fort Scott Aquatic Center would not have come to fruition. We are proud to serve a community that works together to make things happen.

We would specifically like to thank all the Health and Wellness Team members, and especially Reta Baker, for their efforts to ensure the aquatic center got of the ground. Kale Nelson, Diana Mitchell and Carolyn Sinn worked tirelessly to educate the public for the vote that took place in 2011. Finally, the citizens of Fort Scott deserve a giant thank you for their vote to pass the measure, ensuring the aquatic center got built.

We would not have been able to open the pool on time without the help of the entire community, especially those who came on opening day and helped clean up construction debris around the work site. Thanks to your efforts, Fort Scott has a beautiful aquatic center that will serve and entertain for generations to come. Thank you.

Fort Scott City Manager Dave Martin, Fort Scott City Commissioners and staff

To the Editor:

I have a truck driver friend who has driven all over the United States.

In his opinion, Fort Scott is the trashiest town he has ever driven through. Don't you think we can change this image of our town by picking up the trash on our lawns and in the streets?
