Harold Dwight and Averil Jean (Hawes) Henry, Bronson, Kan., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 8, 2012.

They married June 8, 1952, at the Bethel Church of Christ near Whitewater, Kan.

Harold graduated from Newton High School and Averil from Whitewater High School.

Harold served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He graduated from Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tenn., and from Harding University in Searcy, Ark. He obtained a Master's degree at the University of Wichita and completed some post grad work at the University of Kansas.

He worked for Beech aircraft, taught school in southeast Missouri, rural Kansas and at Douglas, Haviland and Wichita in Kansas. He also served as a minister for the Church of Christ and worked as a carpenter during the summers.

Averil graduated from Kansas State University and taught school in rural schools in Butler and Harvey counties. She also taught home economics at Augusta, Kan., and Abilene, Kan.

Their children include Mary Ann Snyder, Edmond, Okla., Carolyn Henry, Stillwater, Okla., and Lora Holeman, Bronson. They have two grandsons, Justin and Will Holeman of Bronson.
