K-State alumni, student and Catbacker events planned in Pittsburg June 26

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kirk H. Schulz, president of Kansas State University; Bruce Weber, men's basketball head coach; Brad Sidener, senior vice president and CFO of the K-State Alumni Association; and student-athlete ambassadors will be the guest speakers at the alumni/student/Catbackers banquet in Pittsburg June 26. Earlier in the day, there will be a Power Catbackers of Southeast Kansas golf tournament.

The banquet, at Parrot Bey, 408 N. Locust St., Pittsburg, begins with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. with the banquet, auction and raffle.

The golf tournament begins at 11 a.m. with check-in at the Crestwood Country Club, 304 W. Crestview Ave., Pittsburg. A shotgun start is at noon. Proceeds will benefit the Ahearn Fund for K-State Athletics.

Other campus guests attending will be Lon Floyd, assistant athletics director/development events, K-State Athletics; Andrew Hamor, director of annual giving, K-State Athletics; Mike Clark, director of development, K-State Athletics; Eric Holderness, assistant director of development/annual giving, K-State Athletics; Gavin Hargrave, associate director of alumni programs, K-State Alumni Association; Kelsey Dertzbaugh, K-State admissions representative; and Wyatt Thompson, Voice of the Wildcats.

High school students in the classes of 2012 and 2013, and community college transfers in attendance will receive a free K-State T-shirt. Scholarship drawings will benefit high school seniors and community college students attending K-State in fall 2012. There are more than 2,700 K-State alumni and friends in the southeast Kansas/Pittsburg area.

The deadline to make reservations is Tuesday, June 12.
