Ruth E. Creighton, 89, of Pittsburg, Kan., passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Freeman West in Joplin, Mo.
She was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Fort Scott to Harley and Catherine (Cory) Kinney. She had been a Pittsburg resident since 1943.
Ruth married R. Wayne Hamm. They later divorced. On Dec. 30, 1971, she married James Creighton in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Ruth was a bookkeeper for International Harvest for 12 years and worked in the sales and service department for JCPenney and Dixie Shop. She was of Protestant faith.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hamm of Franklin, Kan., 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, with one on the way and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, George Hamm, David Hamm and Floyd Carl Hamm and a brother, Harley P. Kinney.
No services are planned at this time.
