To the Editor:

What's good for the goose is said to be good for the gander. It seems not quite right for the Bourbon County Commissioners to demand that our Amish sisters and brothers do something the commissioners are unwilling or unable to do. Last time I looked, there were only outhouses at Elm Creek Lake. Have the commissioners recently installed running water and flush toilets out there? Until that happens, is it fair to demand that the Amish violate their principles?

I also wonder if the Christians who are using the HHS mandate to provide women's health care to their employees will be marching and demonstrating to indicate their support for the religious freedom and rights of conscience of our Amish sisters and brothers. If not, they expose themselves as liars and stooges for a political party that loudly proclaims its only purpose this year is to defeat Obama.
