Wednesday, May 30, 2012
Although it opened at 1 p.m., the inaugural day for the new Fort Scott pool attracted 400 people by 2 p.m. Eager swimmers had to wait in line until other visitors left the 400-capacity facility, but about 700 people total went through the first day, City Manager Dave Martin said. As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, 310 people had visited the aquatic center. "Everybody was just very happy and very appreciative," Martin said. He thanked city personnel, lifeguards, those who ran the concession stand s and took tickets for doing "a really good job." He added the public should also be lauded for being patient.(Jason E.
