James Elliott Moore, 65, resident of rural Fort Scott, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Mercy Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born Sept. 12, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Joseph N. Moore and Dorothy Elliott Moore. He received his bachelor's of arts degree from Southeast Missouri State at Cape Girardeau, Mo. He married Joyce Hawley on Oct. 24, 1992. They later divorced. He worked as a sales representative for Star Labs, an animal nutrition company in St. Joseph, Mo. He attended the Faith Christian Center and Cowboy Church.

Survivors include a brother, Tom Moore, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a daughter, Sadie Moore, Fort Scott; two nephews, Ryan and Andrew Moore; one uncle, Robert Elliott and wife Judy, St. Louis, Mo., and a sister-in-law, Karen Moore, Thousand Oaks.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pastor Tim O'Neal will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Cremation will follow with private family burial.The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
