Iva Eathel Price, 99, of Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday morning, May 9, 2012, at the Franklin House Care Home.

Iva was born Oct. 13, 1912, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Alfred Henry and Grace Matilda (Hixon) Hencey.

She married John Ray Price Oct. 29, 1932, in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death Feb. 12, 2000.

Iva taught for 41 years in Bourbon County schools and spent 15 years as a personal tutor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Retired Teachers Association, and the Bourbon County Genealogical Society.

Iva was the author of two books: "Hixon - McBain and Kim" and "Price and Heitz."

Iva is survived by her children, Johnna Meek of Fort Scott, George Price of Sun City, Texas, and Jim Price of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband John, Iva was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Irene May Hencey, and a brother, Jack Murphy Hencey.

Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct funeral services 10 a.m. Saturday May 12, 2012, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with burial following at the Memory Gardens of Bourbon County Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
