Mercy offers sports physicals

Monday, April 30, 2012

Mercy Clinic Fort Scott will hold the annual sports physical clinic from 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 2 at 403 Woodland Hills Blvd. The examinations are for students age 10 to 18 years.

Cost is $10 on this date. Proceeds from this community service will be donated to the students' school activities department.

"School districts required students who plan to participate in extracurricular activities to have a current physical on file," Annamarie Holmes, Mercy Clinic director, said in a news release. "The physicals ensure that the student is healthy to participate."

"It is suggested that the student's primary care physician perform these types of exams because they are familiar with the student's family medical history," Holmes continued. "This aids in a comprehensive and efficient evaluation of the students current medical status."

Several Mercy Clinic providers are donating time to offer the clinic.

"Every year, the physicians and their staff look forward to providing this service to the students and financially support the schools," Holmes added.
