Elmer H. "Butch" Reed, 63, resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, April 08, 2012, at his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1949, in Coretta, W.Va., the son of Rufus Elmer Reed and Daisy Louise Hicks Reed.

Butch was retired as a truck driver with Mid-Western Distribution.

He married Sharon Sims in February of 1980. They later divorced.

He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Reed; a daughter, Samantha Reed; a brother, Jack R. Reed and a sister, Goldie Ward, Trinidad, Colo. Also surviving are five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

There was cremation. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Shelter House No. 1 at Gunn Park.
