Catherine Louise Nickl, 83, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her home. She was born July 22, 1928, in Eldorado, Kan., the daughter of Charles Frederick Demo Sr. and Hattie Bell Crossland Demo. She married Wayne Nickl on Aug. 13, 1945, in Eldorado, Kan. Catherine had worked in the nursing profession for several years; she had worked in nursing homes and also provided in-home care.

She enjoyed painting, crocheting, sewing and flower gardening. She was also an excellent cook who especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the West Park Church of the Nazarene in Fort Scott. Survivors include her husband, Wayne, of the home; four children, Terry Nickl, Wichita, Kan., Cheryl Beyer and husband Joseph, Nevada, Mo., Deanna Olsen and husband, Paul, Bailey, Colo., and Marc Nickl and John Brooks, Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Lucretia, Justice, Elise, Liberty, Jaclyn, Travis and Dane; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Charles Demo, Lee's Summit, Mo. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Wayne Olsen, a granddaughter, April Dawn Nickl and a brother, Harold Lee Demo. Rev. John Comstock will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Sunset Lawns Cemetery in Eldorado, Kan.
