Dennis Hewett was born Sept. 17, 1947 to Clifford and Lucille Hewett in Girard, Kan. He passed away peacefully on April 5, 2012, at the age of 64.
Dennis was a plasma physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, in Livermore, Calif. He previously held positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Massachusetts Institute of Technology before moving to Livermore in 1984.
Dennis received his bachelor's degree in physics from Pittsburg State College, Pittsburg Kan., in 1969 where he was later selected as an Outstanding Alumni. He received his Ph.D in plasma physics from the University of Kansas in 1973.
In addition to his career, he enjoyed flying, photography, tennis, skiing, biking with his grandkids and going to their sporting events. He had a passion for knowledge and was accomplished in a wide variety of subjects.
Dennis leaves his wife and soulmate Elizabeth (Betty) of 43 years, his daughters: Jennifer Rochez of Livermore and Kristen Hazelton of Seattle, Wash., sons-in-law: Jonathan Rochez and Ryan Hazelton, grandchildren: Christopher Hewett Rochez and Isabella Grace Rochez. He also leaves sisters: Barbara Stuart and Elaine Wallof, sister-in-law: Sharon Cowan, numerous family members and countless friends.
