Country Showdown seeking entries

Saturday, April 7, 2012

KNEM/KNMO Radio will host the 31st annual Texaco Country Showdown on Friday, June 8, on the main stage during Bushwhacker days. More than 500 radio stations nationwide hold a Texaco Country Showdown event.

Ten acts will compete for the chance to move on to the Missouri State Competition. First place will receive $300 and advance to the state finals; second place will receive $150, and third place will receive $50.

State winners will then vie for a $1,000 cash prize and advance to the regional competition. The five regional winners will then receive an all-expense paid trip to the national finals where they will compete for a $100,000 grand prize and the national title.

The Texaco Country Showdown is open to vocal and/or instrumental performers. Individual acts or groups with up to seven members are welcome. To ensure fairness, a uniform judging system is used on all levels of the competition.

To enter the Texaco Country Showdown, send a CD of yourself performing two songs and an entry form to KNEM/KNMO Radio, 414 E. Walnut, Nevada. Entry forms are available at the radio station front office, or can be downloaded from texacocountryshowdown.com.

Deadline for all entries is Thursday, May 31. Out of all the entries, only 10 will perform during Bushwhacker Days. If you are chosen to be in the top 10, a $20 entry fee will be required.
