PYNE

Marilyn J. Pyne, 69, died peacefully at her home Sunday, March 25, 2012.

Marilyn had been in the constant care and companionship of family and friends since pancreatic cancer was diagnosed in February. Throughout her illness, she maintained her sense of humor and her appreciation for her family and friends.

She was born July 1, 1942, in Detroit, Mich., to F.J. (John) and Joanne Dupuis. They moved to Florida in 1943.

Marilyn retired from Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott in 2005. She managed the office in the pathology department. She previously worked at St Mary's Catholic School and Ark Haven Nursing Home.

Marilyn was an active, caring member of St Mary's Catholic Church since moving to Fort Scott in 1977. She lived out her faith by reaching out to those in need. She always took the time to listen to others sincerely. Their concerns became her concerns. All who knew her received benefit from her sound advice and wise counsel. She was a very interesting person to listen to and enjoyed sharing all the details of a story. Marilyn encouraged others and realized the potential for good in all people. God blessed her with a special sense of humor. Although she was a soft-spoken lady, she would invoke laughter with a wry comment at just the right time. All of us who knew her closely will laugh again many times when we recall her unique sense of humor and this would have pleased Marilyn. She sincerely believed we were put on earth to know, love and serve God. Two of her favorite bits of wisdom were "trust God" and "do the right thing."

Survivors include three sons: Shawn, DeLand, Florida; Bill and John, Kansas City, one daughter: Joanne (Mrs Jeff) Ricci, DeLand, Florida

Siblings: three brothers; Lawrence (Joe) Dupuis, Orange City, Fla.; Gary Dupuis, DeLand, Fla.; Roger Dupuis, Sanford, Fla.

Two sisters: Carol (Mrs Larry) Noel, Barberville, Florida and Janice (Mrs Daniel) Noel, Arcadia, Ohio.

Also surviving are three granddaughters and one great-grandson, all residing in DeLand, Fla.

Graveside services, open to family and friends, will be conducted by Fr. Darrin May at St. Mary's Cemetery on Thursday March 29, at 10:30 a.m. at 201 Locust, followed by lunch at St. Mary's Kennedy Gym.
