JOSEPH J. "JOHNNY" VINARDI
Joseph J. "Johnny" Vinardi, 83, a former resident of Hepler and Fort Scott, Kan., died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard, Kan.
He was born June 22, 1928, in Hepler, the son of Joe Vinardi and Maria Mikeleti Vinardi. Johnny had lived in the Hepler area for many years prior to moving to the Hillside Guest Home in Fort Scott and later to the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard.
In his earlier years, he had attended the Hepler Christian Church. He was a friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed basketball, watching Hepler baseball and the Hepler July 4 Rodeo.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, his many friends in the Hepler area, as well as his friends and caregivers at the Heritage Nursing Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Hospice chaplain Jeff Martin will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Hepler Cemetery.
Friends and family may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Hepler Fire Department and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, Kan. 66701.
