To the Editor:

Uniontown School District had the honor of hosting the Kansas Class 2A Sub-State basketball tournament this past week. I was able to attend most of the games and enjoy watching this level of sports.

However, I was disappointed to observe that most of the local personnel who were supervising and having key responsibilities weren't dressed with pride. And I wasn't the only local person who made this observation from the comments I heard. I also heard visitors from other schools commenting on how the key people were dressed.

As a patron, taxpayer and supporter of numerous USD 235 activities, I was disappointed in their appearance and embarrassed by it. When you "invite" guests to your house, you clean, you make special preparations and "dress up." This is only March. Do you really think cut-off sweatpants, shorts, ragged shoes and T-shirts had a welcoming appearance?

Whatever happened to having pride in wearing school colors?

We like for our students to dress nice when they go places representing our school in various activities. Shouldn't adults who supervise our students set a good example? Just wondering whatever happened to putting our best foot forward, so to speak.
