Allen takes four in baseball

IOLA -- The Jayhawk Conference portion of the schedule did not begin well for Fort Scott Community College's baseball team over the weekend as the Greyhounds were swept by Allen in an Eastern Division series.

Allen claimed 3-2 and 11-1 victories on Saturday and 3-2 and 5-4 wins on Sunday. The Greyhounds fell to 12-5 overall while the Red Devils improved to 8-5.

Fort Scott's next three outings are at home. Crowder College, which gave the 'Hounds their only non-conference loss on Feb. 22 at Neosho, Mo., will come to town for a single 9-inning game that begins at 2 p.m. this afternoon. Saturday and Sunday, they'll host Neosho County in a four-game weekend series. Doubleheaders begin each day at 1 p.m. at Lions Field.
