Editor's Note: In the online version of this summary, a mathematical error has been corrected in the first paragraph. The print version gave Tyler Adams and Cameron Woodring 10 points more than they scored combined. The Tribune regrets the error and any confusion it may have caused.

Tyler Adams and Cameron Woodring combined to score 50 points Tuesday night as Fort Scott High's boys dispatched Pittsburg, 75-58, in Southeast Kansas League play at the FSHS gymnasium.

In other league action, Parsons defeated Independence, 49-45, to create a three-way tie atop the league standings between those two and the Tigers. All three are 6-1 in league play. Fort Scott (15-4 overall) hosts Labette County Thursday night while Parsons (17-2) travels to Coffeyville and Independence (13-6) goes to Iola. The SEK does not use tie-breakers so any ties for the lead that still exist at the end of the night Thursday night will result in co-champions.

Pittsburg fell to 4-3, 11-8 and can not claim a share of the title even if all three teams ahead of them lost Thursday night.

Both teams came out firing in the first quarter, trading scores with Adams' 3-pointer at the buzzer providing a 19-15 cushion for the Tigers going into the second.

However, the Purple Dragons scored 6 of the first 8 of the second to tie the score with 5:34 left in the half. Woodring hit a 3-point shot to put the Tigers back up and 6' 8" center Stefon Rich brought Pittsburg within one on a layup.

Woodring's next triple sparked a 15-2 run to end the half with Matt Wright following up in transition to beat the buzzer for the final score of the period.

Adams scored 6 in a row midway through the third on a 3-point goal and an old-fashioned 3-point play to put the Tigers up 50-30 with 5:28 to go. Daniel Durbin's layup with 3:08 to go gave Fort Scott it's biggest lead, 52-31.

Pittsburg scored 9 of the last 10 of the third and got within 53-40. Dillon O'Dell's basket with 3:43 remaining brought the Dragons within 63-53.

The Tigers finally put Pittsburg away at the free-throw line, making 14 of 20 charity tosses in the fourth quarter. They helped Fort Scott score 9 straight points in the final two minutes of play.

Altic added 12 points for the Tigers and also led in rebounds with 7. Woodring handed out 7 assists while Adams and Wright each picked up 4 steals.

Jalen King scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Pittsburg, which shot just 36 percent from the field, making 20 of 55 field-goal attempts.

Fort Scott shot 57 percent from the floor, making 25 of 44 field-goal tries. The Tigers were 7 of 12 from behind the 3-point line as Adams connected on 4 triples and Woodring connected on 3.

Pittsburg outrebounded Fort Scott, 39-26. The Tigers handed out 18 assists and picked up 12 steals.

JUNIOR VARSITY -- Marques Floyd score 13 points and Jack Olin added 12 as Fort Scott defeated Pittsburg, 61-58. The Tigers trailed 35-17 at halftime.

NOTES -- Fort Scott will host a Sub-State first-round contest Tuesday night. Teams will be seeded based on their records as of this afternoon. Iola and Chanute of the SEK are also in this Sub-State as are host Louisburg, Anderson County, Prairie View, Osawatomie and Paola.

Fort Scott head coach Jeff DeLaTorre told KOMB's Larry Gazaway that he expected Chanute to be the Tigers' opponent Tuesday. The Blue Comets (7-12) hosted Coffeyville Tuesday in their final game of the regular season. A score from that game was not available at press time....
