Eagle boys beat Titans; girls fall in close call

UNIONTOWN -- Uniontown's boys concluded regular-season play with a 55-44 victory over Southern Coffey County here Tuesday night. SCC's girls outscored Uniontown 21-11 in the fourth quarter and rallied for a 54-51 victory.

Zach Travis led Eagle boys (15-5) with 17 points while Brenton Esslinger added 12. Uniontown held a 21-6 lead after one period.

"Our Seniors played well on Senior Night," Eagle head coach Nathan Hinrichs said. "I was proud of their effort."

Hayden Rathbun led Uniontown's girls (13-7) with 16 points while Jacy Ermel had 15 points and 9 rebounds.

"We felt like we had it and let it get away at the end," UHS head coach Ken Holt said. "Both teams played hard and both teams played well. We just had a couple of turnovers late and they took advantage."

Uniontown will host first-round games of its own Sub-State at the beginning of next week. First-round girls games will be held Monday with first-round boys games Tuesday. Seeding will take place later today.
