Mary Esther Ham, age 93, resident of Nashville, Tenn., died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Nashville. She was born May 9, 1918.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Howard M. Ham. Mary Esther was a loving wife and mother. Her life's work was teaching and she spent several years as a librarian at St. Bernard's Academy in Nashville. Her devotion to her church home at Belle Meade United Methodist Church was an important part throughout her life and especially in her later years.
She is survived by her sons, Richard and Stephen Ham; sister, Joann Caldwell; brother, Eldon Underwood; grandchildren; Austin and Reed Ham, Lauren, Ashley and Anthony Ham; great grandchildren, Brayson and Presley Cash Hankins; nieces and nephews, Nancy Jo and Anne Coburn, Jenny Underwood, Verna Melohn, Joe, Larry and Lynn Caldwell.
Services are scheduled in Nashville on Thursday, with local graveside services in Fort Scott at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Large Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cheney Witt Chapel from noon until leaving for the cemetery on Saturday.
