FSHS basketball teams fall on first night at Basehor

BASEHOR -- Fort Scott High's boys tried to rally only to fall short here Tuesday night on the first day of the Basehor-Linwood Bobcat Invitational.

Tiger boys (7-3) fell to Park Hill, Mo., 65-59, while the girls (3-7) lost to Ottawa, 48-37. Both teams played Wednesday night -- the girls against host Basehor-Linwood and the boys versus Pembroke Hill -- but results were not available before press time.

Based on the information from the Basehor-Linwood scorebook, Tyler Adams tied the score at 50-50 on a 3-point goal with 5:20 left in the game. Park Hill extended the lead back up to 58-50 with 3:50 left.

Adams hit another 3-point shot with 2:56 to go. That brought Fort Scott within 58-53.

Adams made six 3-point shots as he finished the game with 26 points. He scored 8 in the fourth quarter. Cameron Woodring added 15 points.

Farmer led Park Hill with 20 points. Wooldridge followed with 11 points and Cross finished with 10.

The Tigers defeated Pembroke Hill Wednesday, 82-65. More details from that game will be posted Friday morning. They will face the winner of the St. Joseph-Benton--Maryville game for fifth place Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Ottawa girls 48, Fort Scott 37.

Jordan Baldwin's 23 points sparked the Cyclones to victory. She scored 10 of her points in the second quarter wen Ottawa was able to extend a 2-point lead to eight by halftime. Baldwin also made 6 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Brianne Lawrence led the Tigers with 19 points, scoring 6 in the first and 6 in the fourth. Katren Rienbolt added 10 points.

The Tigers lost to Basehor-Linwood Wednesday night, 45-38. More information from that game will be posted on Friday. Fort Scott will play for seventh place at 3 p.m. Friday.
