Bobby Dean Shipley, 63, a former resident of Fort Scott, and more recently of Osawatomie, Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

He was born Sept. 13, 1948, in Fort Scott, the son of Ralph Richard Shipley and Fern Maxine Dennis Shipley.

He graduated from Blue Mound High School and had attended Pittsburg State University. He had operated his own trucking company and upholstery business. He was a member of the Mapleton Community of Christ Church.

Survivors include a brother, Sam Shipley and wife, Marilyn of Osawatomie and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rick Shipley.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, Kan. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
