A 10-0 fourth-quarter run gave visiting Parsons what it needed to remain undefeated on the season following a 57-51 victory over Fort Scott High's boys at the FSHS gymnasium Tuesday night.

The Tigers (5-2) used a 12-0 run of their own to overcome a 9-point deficit and take a 33-30 lead with 3:40 remaining in the first half. They lead 37-35 going into the fourth quarter and went up 47-45 on Cameron Woodring's free throws with 3:37 remaining.

James Jackson's 3-point goal with exactly three minutes to go sparked Parsons' run. They lead 55-47 with one minute to go.

In a 8-minute, 40-second stretch between Tyler Adams' 3-point shot that capped the Tigers' third-quarter run to Jackson's triple that started the Vikings' fourth-quarter rally, the lead changed hands four times and there were six ties.

"It came down to those last three minutes, basically," Fort Scott head coach Jeff DeLaTorre said. "We had opportunities to make plays that we didn't make and they did. And that's the difference.

"They're a very good team. We felt like we were right there and had a chance to get a very big win. Unfortunately, we couldn't close the deal."

Parsons (5-0) led the entire first half. They held a 10-4 lead four minutes in when Tevin Johnson stuck back a teammate's miss.

Adams hit a 3-point shot and Johnathan Stark scored a layup in the final minute of the period to bring the Tigers within 14-12 after one.

Parsons scored six straight to boost the lead to 24-16 with 1:28 left in the half. Adams scored a 3-pointer and took a steal in for a layup to bring Fort Scott within 3 points. Johnson hit a 3-point shot from the right wing to extend Parsons' lead to 27-21 at the break.

Wes Krull made it 30-21 when he hit a 3-point shot less than 30 seconds into the second half. DeLaTorre called time out. Then the Tigers got going with Adams' jumper sparking their run. He scored 8 points during that stretch.

"I'm proud of how we battled," DeLaTorre said. "We found a way to stay in the game and claw our way back.

"Effort wasn't the issue; I think we played very hard."

Stark drove in for a layup with three seconds left in the third to put Fort Scott ahead 37-35. Jackson hit a 3-point shot to open the final stanza for Parsons.

Adams made 9 of 20 shots from the field and finished with a game-high 22 points. Woodring and Kyle Altic added 8 points each.

Johnson led Parsons with 18 points and Jackson followed up with 15.

The Vikings made 48 percent of their shots from the floor, hitting 23 of 48 field-goal attempts and outrebounded Fort Scott, 35-25. The Tigers shot 40 percent from the field on 21 of 52.

Altic finished with 6 rebounds. Woodring handed out 5 assists and Adams picked up 4 steals.

The Tigers will be idle until next Tuesday when they travel to Iola.
