Carolyn Kay Segebartt, 65 of rural Hepler, Kan., died at her home, Monday, Dec. 26, 2011.

She was born July 3, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of George Winton and Georgia Louise (James) Young. She married John Edward Segebartt April 9, 1995, and he survives of the home.

In addition to her husband, John, Carolyn is survived by her children; Sheri Johnson-Steptoe and Larry of Columbus, Ohio, Matt Johnson and Nicole of Lebanon, Mo., Robert Johnson and Lisa of Fulton, Mo., and LaToyia Forester and Ryan of Fort Scott; a brother, Robert Young and Mary of Springfield, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Garrett and Grace Johnson, Sophia and Wyatt Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carolyn graduated from Missouri State University and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She served as the president of KNEA Fort Scott, school year 2008-2009, and she was the leader of the weekly Teacher's After School Prayer Circle at the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of Bourbon County Master Gardeners & Garden Club, CA chapter of PEO, Delta and Kappa Gamma Teachers Association. Carolyn was a member of the Hiattville United Methodist Church. She taught both second and third grade at Winfield Scott Elementary School for a number of years and was loved by her students and co-workers.

Rev. Kenton Van will conduct funeral services for Carolyn at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the First United Methodist Church with burial following at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
