Mabel received a Christian education and was raised a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. While attending Union College in Lincoln, Neb., she met and married Joe Tucker. He preceded her in death. Mabel later married Russell Carpenter of Liberty, Mo., who also preceded her in death.
She had been a resident of John Knox Village since 1977. She was a soft-spoken, generous woman who was always a lady. Mabel supported many charitable organizations. Her life was lived showing love and kindness to everyone she met.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Joanne Tucker, Fort Scott, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Roy, Harold, Alfred, William and Miles Gosnell.
Pastor Travis Forde will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Chapel Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to a Union College Scholarship Fund and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
