Alice May Young, 59, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Dec. 16, 2011, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott. She was born July 19, 1952, in Grandview, Mo., the daughter of Jack Evans Agnew and Dixie Mae Milor.

She married Lester Charles Young on Oct. 12, 1972, in Miami, Okla. She was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan. Football was the only passion that topped her great admiration for Elvis Presley. She also had a great love of animals, especially her five dogs and a cat. Her most important endeavor was spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Lester of the home; two sons, David Young and wife Kirsten, Olathe, Kan., and Daniel Young, Fort Scott; two daughters, Diana Payton and husband Jason, Leavenworth, Kan., and Debra Mount, Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, David Agnew and wife Anna, Louisville, Ky., James Agnew, Ind., and William Agnew, Kansas City, Mo.; and a sister Rebecca Loyd and husband Ronald, Fort Scott.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Agnew, as well as her parents.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
