Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; a brother, Sheldon Stoughton, Pleasanton, Kan.; a sister, Pauline Beeler, Fort Scott, Kan.; and a daughter, Karen Sue Peery and husband, Ed, Mapleton. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kristi Fowler and husband, Sid, with sons Wyatt Ellis Fowler and Jesse Lee Fowler, Olathe, Kan., Andy Perry and children, Ian Perry and Andrea Peery, Grove, Okla., Susan Brown and husband, Danny, with children, Bailie Elisabeth Brown, Gunnar Joe Brown and Allie Nacole Brown, Fort Scott, Bill Martin and wife, Wendy, with children, Autumn, Alex, Cassie and Alexa, Fort Scott, Matt Martin and wife, Rachael, with children, Devon, Morgan, and Kelsey, Fort Scott, Troy Stoughton and children, Lexi, Libi and Drew Stoughton, Mapleton, Amy Stoughton and daughter, Jandyn Stoughton, Fort Scott, and Christina Logue and husband, Jason, with children, Brayden and Emma of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his son, James Raymond Stoughton; two brothers, Raymond Stoughton and Milton Jack Stoughton; and one sister, Bernice Lawrence.
The Rev. Ron Brown will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the West Plains Cemetery, Fort Scott. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., Sunday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice House and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.
