Albert D. "Bob" Babcock, 86, former resident of 415 Burke, Fort Scott, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Fort Scott, the son of Albert Menges and Jennie Cooper Menges. He was adopted at the age of 5 and raised by Matt and Susie Babcock.
Bob married Vivian Tucker on Sept. 17, 2005, in Fort Scott. He was retired from the maintenance department with the Kansas Department of Transportation. He was a veteran having served in United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church and a lifetime member of the Tonganoxie Post No. 9271 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his caregiver Vivian Cooper and a niece, Kay Fleming, both of Fort Scott. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Pastor David Tucker will conduct graveside services at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the U.S. National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until leaving for the cemetery.
