Wednesday, November 16, 2011

PITTSBURG -- The nation's No. 3-ranked Butler Grizzlies will face off against No. 10 Trinity Valley in the third annual Citizens Bank Bowl. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff on December 4, at Carnie Smith Stadium on the Pittsburg State University campus. The bowl game is sanctioned by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

"We are incredibly excited about the match-up for our bowl game," Dean Mann, owner and chairman of Citizens Bank said. "Butler and Trinity Valley are high-caliber teams, and we are proud to bring such a great event to Pittsburg and Southeast Kansas."

Butler is the 2011 Jayhawk Conference and Region VI Playoffs champion with a record of 10-1. Trinity Valley, located in Athens, Texas, has a record of 8-2, including a win over last year's Citizens Bank Bowl winner and NJCAA Champion, Navarro.

The bowl was sanctioned as the NJCAA National Championship Game in the previous two seasons.
