William Howard "Bill" Inman, 85, a resident of rural Walnut, Kan., died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born May 3, 1926, on the family farm near Hepler, Kan., the son of Homer Monroe Inman and Elora G. Hays Inman. His father passed away when Bill was 9 years of age. Following his father's death, Bill worked hard on the family farm and continued as a farmer and stockman his entire life.
He married Anna Lou Cobb on Sept. 25, 1946, at Girard, Kan.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lou, of the home; three children, Shirley Ann Utley and husband Steve, LaHarpe, Kan., William H. Inman Jr., and wife Bernadette, Walnut, Kan., and Patti Lou Powers and husband Steve, Chanute, Kan.
Also surviving are his brother, Wallace F. Inman and wife Frances, Overland Park, Kan.; and three sisters, Gladys Hill, Erie, Kan., and Berniece Oliver and Iris Wimberly, both of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie, Wes, Brad, Melissa, Jason, Katie, Matthew, Amber, Clayton and Stephanie; and eight great-grandchildren, Elora, Connor, Lauren, Carter, Henry, Brooklynn, Gavin and Anna.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lloyd Houk will conduct a private family funeral service on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott, Kan. Burial will follow in the Walnut Cemetery. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at www.cheneywitt.com.
