Evelyn Faye Niemeir Marr

Evelyn Faye Niemeir Marr, 95, a former resident of Fort Scott, Kan., and more recently of Fort Worth, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born Jan. 13, 1916, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Charles Fredrick Niemeir and Pearl Calvin Niemeir. Evelyn grew up on a farm, enjoying fun times with her four brothers and five sisters.

She married Ralph Letcher Marr on June 27, 1937, at Fort Scott, Kan. He was the love of her life for 73 years before his passing in November 2010. Evelyn was employed at Wichita, Kan., Coca Cola for 25 years. Ralph and Evelyn traveled extensively for almost 40 years, pulling their Airstream behind them throughout the states, Canada and Alaska. They enjoyed the Airstream rallies, taking grandchildren on their adventures, and making new friends along their travels.

Survivors include a son, Roger Marr and wife, Sharon, also of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Janelle Thrash and husband, Greg, Georgetown, Texas, and Eric Marr and wife, Tammie, Niantic, Conn.; and four great-grandchildren, Austin and Rebecca Thrash, Amber Marr-McMillian and Tyler Marr. Also surviving are three sisters, Margaret Marie Hass of Alabama, Lois Irene Hixon of Colorado, and Juanita Fern Harber of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on Nov. 7, 2010; four brothers, Calvin, Marion, George and Glen Niemeir; and two sisters Ruth Niemeir and Madeline Mackey.

The Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends and family will meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel from 1 p.m. until leaving for the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors' choice and left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
