Larena Marguerite "Renie" Beadell, 100, a resident of rural Fort Scott, died early Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at her home. She was born June 16, 1911, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Jacob "J.W." Morton and Ethel Inez Orr Morton.

She married William E. Beadell on Sept. 9, 1929, at Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1970.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, quilting and sewing, as well as collecting buttons.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Endicott and husband Melvin, Bronson, Kan., and Lynn Cagle and husband Gary, Owasso, Okla.; a brother Fred Morton, Waldron, Ark., and a sister, Oma Miller, Wellington, Kan.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Morton and Clifford Morton, and two sisters, Latisha Frazier and Barbara Ada McGarrah.

Retta Smith will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at www.cheneywitt.com.
