LaCYGNE, Kan. -- Fort Scott had over 350 yards of total offense at halftime here Friday night and went on to roll to a 53-0 victory over Prairie View in Kansas Class 4A-District 6 play here Friday night.

The Tigers (2-0 district, 7-1 overall) needed two plays or less to score on four of their seven first-half scoring drives. Their longest drive of the half was the first one, which needed nine plays.

The Buffalos (0-2, 4-4) had negative total offense at halftime and would have finished the game with less than zero but for three carries by starting fullback Tyler Stillians -- consecutive gains of 21, 5 and 10 yards -- in the third quarter against a Fort Scott defense which had several junior varsity players on the field. As it was, Prairie View managed just 43 total yards of offense for the game, averaging less than one yard per play.

Fort Scott rushed for 369 yards and gained a total of 444 yards. Dane Cummings had 122 yards and two touchdowns on just four first-half carries to lead the Tigers.

Fort Scott's opening drive began at its own 42-yard line and finished on a 14-yard pass from Johnathan Stark to Straton Hunziker with 7:50 on the clock. Jonathan Allen's PAT kick was good.

The Tigers got the ball back after recovering a fumble at their own 41 and needed only four plays to score. Cummings got his first score on a 36-yard run. Stark took a bad snap in kick formation and threw to Cody McGehee for a 2-point conversion to make it 15-0 with 3:58 to go.

Fort Scott recovered a bad punt as Prairie View attempted to punt and recovered it at the Prairie View 1, from where Stark ran in for the touchdown with 1:58 left in the first. Another bad snap forced Stark to try for two again but this time he could not complete the pass and it remained 21-0.

Cummings scored from 70 yards out on the first play of the Tigers' next drive and Reed Ramsey caught the 2-point conversion pass from Stark to make it 29-0 with 11:32 left in the first half. Stark threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Brady Fink as the Tigers completed their third straight one-play scoring drive with 7:49 left. A pass for two failed, so it was 35-0.

Jason Thorpe scored from 20 yards out with 3:17 left in the half. McGehee scored on a 30-yard run with 2:22 to go, two plays after Stark intercepted a pass. The conversions failed each time and it was 47-0 at halftime.

The entire second half was played with a running clock. There was no scoring in the third quarter but Jash Pytlowany scored on a 45-yard run in the fourth quarter two wrap things up.

Pytlowany finished with 61 yards on seven carries while Victor Hughes added 60 yards on 10 totes. Stark completed 2 of 4 passes for 75 yards.

Stillians finished with 64 yards on 15 rushes for Prairie View. No other played gained more than 11 yards, whether it was rushing or receiving.

The Tigers will play their regular-season finale Thursday night as Anderson County will pay a visit. The Bulldogs (2-0, 5-3) defeated Iola 62-30 Friday night, which sets up a showdown for the district title at Frary Field. The winner hosts a Bi-District playoff game on Nov. 1 while the loser will be on the road the same night.
