Fort Scott High School's volleyball team will be the No. 6 seed at the Anderson County Class 4A Sub-State Tournament, which begins at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers are 16-18 and will face No. 3 seed Girard (24-12) at approximately 3 p.m. Two courts are being used with the tournament starting at 2 p.m. with side-by-side matches.
No. 8 Iola (7-25) will face top-seeded Chanute (31-3) at 1 p.m. on Court A with No. 7 Prairie View (9-23) taking on No. 2 Parsons (25-12) at the same time on Court B.
The Fort Scott-Girard match will be on Court B with the match between No. 5 Anderson County (19-15) and No. 4 Pittsburg (22-15) taking place on Court A.
The semifinals will have the Court A winners against each other while the Court B winners square off. Those matches could begin shortly after 4 p.m. with the championship match on Court A after 5 p.m.
Fort Scott is 9-7 against the field, having faced each team in this Sub-State at least once. The Tigers are 4-0 against Iola, 1-0 versus Girard and Parsons, 2-1 versus Prairie View, 1-1 against Anderson County, 0-2 versus Chanute and 0-4 against Pittsburg.
The other four Southeast Kansas League schools are playing at Independence, where Towanda-Circle (28-11) of the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League is the top seed. Circle will face Coffeyville (4-23) in one of the first round match-ups. That winner will face the winner of the match between No. 5 Augusta (15-20) and No. 4 Independence (14-17).
The other semifinal will feature the winners of the match between No. 7 Columbus (7-25) and No. 2 Labette County (17-16) and the match between No. 6 El Dorado (9-29) and No. 7 Baxter Springs (17-17).
