Getting to know your cowherd

A "Getting to Know Your Cow Herd" workshop has been set for Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Fort Scott Livestock Market, Fort Scott, Kan.

The program begins at 6 p.m. with topics which will include body condition scoring, changes in cow size, effectiveness and competitiveness of Kansas herds and winter feeding sites.

K-State Research and Extension speakers for the evening include Cow-Calf Specialist Bob Weaber, Ag Economist Michael Langemeier and Water Quality Specialist Herschel George. Supper, sponsored by Citizens Bank of Fort Scott and Iola, will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The practical information and management tips provided during this program will help you optimize your cow/calf operation. Pre-registration is requested by Oct. 28. For more information or to register, contact the Fort Scott Office of the Southwind Extension District at (620) 223-3720.
