Mercy Urgent Care now at two locations
Mercy will own and operate the urgent care facility located at 1624 S. National in Fort Scott, effective Oct. 3.
The practice, formerly owned by Dr. Brent Cosens, was known as SEK Urgent Care.
The hospital will continue offering urgent care at Mercy Health Center, located near the emergency department.
"Mercy will continue to provide our community this access point for urgent care services that is easy, convenient and customer-service oriented," Mercy Clinic Director Annamarie Holmes said in a news release. "We will also continue to provide occupational health services for local employers at the new location."
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners-certified Tiffany George and Janice Boge will treat patients at the new location. Mercy has recently hired two additional co-workers to support the clinic: Meghan Woodrum, radiology technician/phlebotomist/medical assistant, and Whendi Martin, receptionist/registration.
Dr. Amy Sachau will be the medical director overseeing medical operations, said Christina Rockhold, regional marketing and communication specialist media relations-Mercy Central Communities. Sachau will maintain her clinic at Mercy Physician Group at the hospital.
Hours at the National Avenue Mercy Urgent Care location will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Mercy will provide the same quick walk-in services the community has been accustomed to receiving from Cosens, who will operate SEK Urgent Care in Pittsburg.
Mercy has installed the EPIC electronic health record (EHR) to support the "one patient, one record" approach. Mercy's powerful EHR allows providers to practice safer medicine.
Mercy patients also have the ability to manage their health online via MyMercy, a secure online portal that enables patients to connect with their provider via e-mail, view test results, renew prescriptions, schedule appointments and pay bills online.
Mercy's current Urgent Care, located inside the hospital, will continue the same operating hours, 3:30 p.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
