PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High School's golf team finished fourth at a tournament here Tuesday. The Tigers shot 496 to finish two shots up on fifth-place Parsons.
Karley Stark was the 10th-place medalist as she shot 53 on the front nine and 54 on the back for a total of 107.
Morgan Robertson shot 53-61--114 to tie for 14th. Laine Parks had a nine-hole best of 65 on the front nine but shot 71 on the back for a total of 136. Natalie Wolf also had a personal-best 65 on the front then shot 74 on the back for a 139. Hayden Shelden finished at 78-77--155. For Parks, Wolf and Shelden, it was their first nine-hole tournament.
"Every player on the team has significantly improved over the the course of the season and these last few regular season tournaments are setting them up to showcase what they've accomplished," Fort Scott head coach Karen Curran said.
Girard won the team title with a four-woman score of 414, two ahead of Caney Valley. Chanute was third at 426.
Danae Decker of Chanute won the individual crown with her 42-43--85. Caney's Tiffani Ward followed at 46-43--89 and Girard's Timbrelee McNair, who had won four consecutive tourneys, finished third at 46-50--96.
The Tigers play in a nine-hole event today at Oswego. Columbus is the host school
