Ralph Earl Franklin, 46, of Hume, Mo., died Saturday Sept. 24, 2011, at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kan. He was born on Sept. 8, 1965, at Fort Scott, the son of Charles and Jeannie Miller Franklin. He graduated from Hume High School in 1983 and attended welding school at Fort Scott Community College.

Ralph married Jimmie Luther on May 18, 1985, at Fort Scott. He was the owner and operator of Franklin's Tractor Parts. Ralph was a member of the Hume Christian Church, president of the Hume School Board, was active in the Hume Ball Association and Athletic Booster Club and was the Bates County 4-H Shooting Sports coach.

He is survived by his wife Jimmie Franklin of Hume; two sons, Caleb and Cody Franklin of Hume, a daughter Tiffany Ogle and Clay of St. Joseph, Mo., parents Charley and Jeannie Franklin of Hume, a brother Geno Franklin and Lucy of Hume and grandson Colton Ogle.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at the Hume School. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hume Christian Church.

The family suggests contributions to the Ralph Franklin Memorial Fund.
