Water main break

A 12-inch steel water main near Fort Scott Industrial Park on U.S. 69 sprang a 2 inch hole Saturday, causing a 30-foot geyser of water to shoot up into the air. City Manager Dave Martin said it took about four hours to repair the main. The dry ground the area has been experiencing lately has caused quite a few leaks, he said. "We were on top of it. We fixed it and clamped it down," Martin said. (Austin Rogers/Submitted Photo)
