He was born Jackie Lee Birdsell in Cato, Kan., the son of Francis (Brown) and Louis Birdsell on Feb. 9, 1929.
He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1947.
He married Grace Thompson in July 1949 in Missouri, and she preceded him in death in 2001.
He was a sales engineer for Process Engineering in Comstock Park until his retirement.
He is survived by his children Lynn and Kathy Birdsell, Newaygo, Mich; Char Birdsell, Newaygo; Randy and Ellen Birdsell, Bay City, Mich.; Rick and Jeanette Birdsell, Newaygo; Dia and Tate Eggers, Holland, Mich., 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Garret of Arcadia, Kan., his brother C.W. Birdsell of Fort Scott, Kan., and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Birdsell, and sister, Margaret Logan.
Memorial services were held on Friday, Aug. 19, at his home.
His nephew, Pastor Jim Logan, officiated.
