Leslie Edwin Seaver, 92, a resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at the Freeman Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He was born March 1, 1919, in Fort Scott, the son of Charles Seaver and Mamie Klontz Seaver.

He married Mary Johnston on Oct. 12, 1946, at Fort Scott.

Les owned and operated his own dairy farm southeast of Fort Scott for many years. He helped organize the rural water district and had served as a board member. In earlier years he had served as a 4-H leader.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and for many years had attended the Diamond Community Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; a son, Roy Seaver and wife, Joyce, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Margie Seaver and Joan Seaver, both of Fort Scott.

Also surviving is a brother, Melvin Seaver and wife, Sharon, Fort Scott; five grandchildren; Kimberly Denton, Fort Scott, Joshua Seaver and wife, Melinda, Fort Scott, Rebecca Kabaj and husband, Jason, Scottsdale, Ariz., Tracey Seaver and Shelley Seaver, both of Glendale, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Abigail, and Jennifer Denton and Kassidi Soltren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Hazel Thompson, Juanita Noggle and Frances Vail and two brothers, Asher and Raymond Seaver.

Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at the Community Christian Church.

Burial will follow in the Chapel Grove Cemetery.
