William Paul Segebartt, 94, of Hepler, died at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at his home at rural Hepler.

He was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Sumner County, Kan., a son of Henry Matthew and Nellie Esther (Davis) Segebartt. He grew up and attended schools in Sumner County and graduated from Argonia Rural High School.

He married Esther Louise Pearson on July 26, 1940, in Parsons, Kan. She survives of the home. He enjoyed being an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hepler.

He farmed in Sumner County until moving to rural Hepler were he continued to farm for several years. He enjoyed wheat farming, raising livestock and reading.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Esther Segebartt, are sons John Segebartt and wife Carolyn of Hepler and Bill Segebartt of Hepler and fiance' Cheryl Hay of Orange County Calif.; daughters LaVera Moomey and husband Lyle of Hepler and Juanita Eitel and husband Gary of Hepler.

Also surviving are grandchildren Rosanna Zeismer and husband Ronald, Douglas Moomey, Rick Eitel, Connie Veal and husband Steve, Bob Eitel and wife Julie, Karen Medcalf, Jeff Eitel and wife Brenda, LaToyia Forrester and husband Ryan, Robert Johnson and wife Lisa, Matt Johnson and wife Nikki, Sherry Steptoe and husband Larry, Andrew Jahn and wife Marlena, Caleb Jahn and wife Codi, David Jahn and wife Eunice and Rachel Morris and husband Marcus.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Segebartt; brothers Alvin Segebartt and Henry Charles Segebartt; and sisters Verena Showman and Ida Maye Friesen.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, Kan., with Pastor Travis Forde officiating.

Burial will be in the Farlington Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Hepler Seventh-day Adventist Church, and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
