GUSS

Larry Dean Guss, 67, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Monday, July 11, 2011, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 28, 1944, in Nevada, Mo., the son of Albert Lee Guss and Ruby Medley Guss.

He married Donna Taiclet on March 26, 1965, in Fort Scott. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2010. Larry had worked as a custodian at Fort Scott Middle School for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and playing pool, as well as working on cars and racing.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Guss and wife, Marie, Fort Scott; and a daughter, Deborah Hamilton and husband, Tom, Oskaloosa, Kan.; three grandchildren, Kurtis and Meghan Guss and Bradley Cornell.

Also surviving is a half-brother, Eddie Guss, Branson, Mo., and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Taiclet, Fort Scott.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Guss.

Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.

Burial will follow in the West Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
