To the Editor:

We would like to thank you for the warm and inviting welcome we received during our visit to your wonderful city last week. Anna Hull and I were fortunate enough to be selected to work as Fellows with the Lowell Milken Center. Neither of us had been to Kansas before and we knew nothing about Fort Scott. What an incredible experience it was for us to be introduced to your fabulous city. Everyone we met was friendly and genuine. Individuals we met all over town were obviously proud of the place they called home, and rightly so! We both fell in love with your town. It was inspiring to see the level of civic commitment displayed by the people we met. Everywhere we went we saw residents interested in improving the community. Civic pride was evident and vibrant.

We urge the citizens of the Fort Scott area to take advantage of the many wonderful offerings that we had the pleasure of experiencing -- from the historic downtown (with its quintessential streets full of great shops) to the Fort and cemetery, from the Community College to Gunn Park and everywhere in between. Remain involved in your community and enjoy it. We look forward to returning with our families and friends to share with them the joys of your wonderful corner of the world.
