Clarence Gooding, 91, of the Presbyterian Village, Fort Scott, Kan., died at the Mercy Health Center Tuesday, June 21, 2011. He was born July 20, 1919, in Pawnee Station, Kan., the son of Grover Cleveland and Lillian Pearl (Barton) Gooding. He married Elizabeth Josephine Manfredi June 1, 1959, in Tulsa, Okla.
He was the maintenance supervisor for the TWA Overhaul Center in Kansas City for many years. He and Elizabeth were longtime residents of Overland Park, Kan., and were very active members of the First Christian Church there.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of Fort Scott; his two sons, Gary Craig Gooding of LaCygne, Kan., and Brent Baker Gooding of Chesapeake, Va.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reita Baker Gooding, in February of 1955, his parents and three sisters, Marie Baballa, Florence Johnson, and Irene Ryan.
Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery.
